GPs are expert generalists - specialists in general medical practice. They are able to deal with a very wide range of problems, probably the widest of any medical specialist. GPs can manage all age groups from babies and toddlers through adolescents to adults and the elderly.
For sick line requests please note:
-
The doctor will assess your medical problem and ascertain if a sick line is indicated, please ensure you are able to give clear and accurate details of your illness
-
The doctor may not be able to backdate the sick note to a date preceding the consultation date if they are unable to verify your state of health prior to the consultation
-
If you have already consulted another healthcare professional about the illness (e.g. a physiotherapist for back pain) it is helpful if you bring details with you to your GP appointment. This can help the GP verify the nature of you illness and may allow them to backdate a sick line based on the earlier assessment of another healthcare professional
